Common Violations & How to Correct Them
3/29/2007

Hello,

In driving through the neighborhood I have found that there are several very common violations:

  1. Trashcans - Trashcans must be stored from view (in garage) on non-collection days.  If you are interested in storing them outside, a screen must be installed please contact your board members for direction on the screen ([email protected]).

  2. Grass or weeds in landscape beds - This can be corrected in one of two ways - a. add a thick layer of pine straw to your beds to cover or flatten the weeds/grass or b. pull all the grass or weeds from your beds yourself.

  3. Edging of landscape beds or grass - A landscape edger can be purchased from Home Depot, Lowe's etc. that allows you to move along the outline of a landscape bed or at the edge of your lawn and cut all the grass down so your lawn or bed is outlined and has a defined edge.  Note: We are not requesting that you purchase brick, stone or black plastic landscape edging and install it.  You are certainly welcome to do this as long as the edging is installed correctly (i.e. buried so that it doesn't fall and is even).  Even if you do this you will still need to edge around your beds with an edger to remove the grass that grows up against the edging that you can't get to with a mower.

  4. Holiday lighting & decor - all holiday lighting & decor should be removed within 2 weeks from the holiday.

  5. Weed lawn - Lawn should be weed free year round.  If you cannot afford to hire a lawn service to treat your yard year round then please purchase some weed and feed from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and make sure you get instructions from their personel on how much and how often to apply.

  6. Mulch needed in landscape beds - a thick layer of fresh pine straw, wood mulch or pine bark should be installed in your landscape beds at least once a year, but twice is recommended.

Please contact me with any questions.

Thanks.
